Dora Munyon Interview - 06/24/2015

Dora Munyon experienced many difficulties in her early life. Family troubles resulted in a separation from her siblings and placement in an orphanage. After unsuccessful marriages and issues with alcoholism, she eventually met and married the love of her life. She also became a foster grandparent working with Kansas City, Kansas 5th graders which she found very fulfilling. She credits her faith for carrying her through the difficult times and would like to write a book about her life some day.

Sue Thompson interview - 07/08/2015

Sue Thompson was born in Merriam, Kansas and moved to Kansas City, Kansas after she married her husband, Chuck. They raised two boys together and Sue spent many years volunteering for the Kansas City, Kansas Public Library, the Bar Association Auxiliary as well as other Wyandotte County organizations. After the tragic death of her husband, she returned to Johnson County to care for her father.

Pat Stidham- 05/02/2015

Pat Stidham was born in Longview, Texas in 1954. At the age of five, his family moved to the West Texas town of Kermit. Pat graduated in 1973 before attending Rice University on a football scholarship. He married and welcomed his daughter into the world during his years in college. Pat spent the first 26 years of his career in sales and marketing before making a career switch in 2002 when he decided to earn a Masters in Teaching from CMSU. He has spent the last 12 years as a teacher, which was his first career choice.

Cecil Simons - 06/27/2014

Cecil H. Simons was born in a log cabin in Lindy, Missouri on January 24, 1921. Lindy, Missouri was a small town (that no longer exists) in New Madrid county in the bootheel of the state. At a young age his family moved to Amboy, Lee County, Illinois. Cecil served in World War II as a radio operator and mechanic with the 89th Fighter Squadron, the 25th Fighter Squadron, and the 27th Troop Carrier Squadron. Cecil flew in 187 combat missions, mostly in China, and was discharged as a staff sergeant in June, 1945. Cecil has a son, grandson and granddaughter.

Flo Biehl Interview- 12/15/2014

Flo Biehl was born in 1930, at home on the family farm near Burns, KS, on the edge of the Flint Hills. She lived and attended public schools there until she enrolled at Kansas State University at the young age of seventeen. After graduation, she taught high school Home Economics in a number of Kansas schools before marrying and raising a family. Moving with her husband and sons to Olathe in the early 1960s, she participated in K-State Research and Extension programming, particularly clothing construction and the tailoring classes.
